Dual code internationals Wendell Sailor and Lote Tuqiri were big hits at the 2011 Mackay FOGS Indigenous Employment and Careers Expo which drew over 2000 Indigenous job seekers and school leavers from Mackay and surrounding areas.

Rugby League legends including Allan Langer, Steve Walters, Gary Belcher, Arthur Beetson, Gene Miles, Sam Backo and Colin Scott were also at the expo where over 40 exhibitors were offering a broad range of employment, education and training opportunities.

From a full range of industries,  the exhibitors included prominent employment, education and training providers such as Defence Force Recruiting, Virgin Blue, Tourism Queensland, Westpac, Ergon Energy, Woolworths, QR National, CRS Australia, Torgas, James Cook University, TAFE Queensland and Education Queensland.

Worldskills Try a Trade displays also gave attendees ‘hands-on’ work experience in the hospitality, construction, nursing and hairdressing industries through activities including mocktail making, wood carving and hair styling.

FOGS Executive Chairman Gene Miles said he is thrilled with the success of the expo so far this year in Cairns and Mackay, and he looks forward to another great expo in Mount Isa next month.
